Ajahn Khun Pan

  Khun Pan's Full name is Khun Pan Tharakrachadet, the Thai addressed him as "Tharn Khun". His ancestors were from Saiburi and after that, his parent moved to Nakhon si . Khun Pan is the second son among the 6 sons. He was born in 18th December  1898( BE.2441) at a village known as Thasala . As a boy,  he will always go to the nearby temple to learn the Peli language from the monks.
  
  During his age of 9, Khun Pan went to school in Wat Baan Suan. On his first day of school, the teacher gave him an IQ test and after he submitted his test paper, on the second day the teacher asked him to join year two class. The next day, Khun Pan took another IQ test and again the teacher arranged him to join the year three class on the next day. This shows that Khun Pan has exceptionally high IQ since he was young.
  
   During his primary school days, Khun Pan always scores as a top student in class. During his free time, he will go to the master to learn metaphysics knowledge and magical skills. He later came under a master name Luang Lu Pun of Wat Kao Or and master more of the skills. He underwent the specialized skills in acquiring  the personal tactic of Wat Kao Or in the preparation of medicine , sacred water, chanting prayer texts day and night continuously  for a few days. His master tattooed scripture texts on his body which enable Khun Pan to become invulnerable by guns bullets and other weapons.

  When he reached the age of 21 , he went to join the police force and was sent for training at the police training center at Nairoihuaijarakhet, Nakhon Pathom for 5 years. During the training, Khun Pan acquired the skills of several types of martial arts such as Judo, Thai boxing,sword fighting and self-defending skills.


  After he graduated from the training school, he was posted to Pattalung as a police inspector. Pattalung at that time was a famous notorious district  of the hiding place of well-known bandits. Some areas are so notorious that even the police were hesitant to enter. Khun Pan was fearless and exceptionally fond of confronting the most notorious criminal and challenged them. Within 5 years, he had successfully arrested many great bandits such as bandit Sang, bandit Poo, bandit Mung, bandit Thong, bandit Yo, bandit Dang and so on.The district government acknowledged the achievement of Khun Pan and informed the king of his achievement. Soon he was conferred as the top ranking police inspector.


  Around the age of 30, he applied to stop work for a year to become a monk for a year at Wat Mahathat. His master was Chao Khun Rathanadum Chamuni. During the year when he was observing the precepts, Khun Pan studied the scripture texts, Buddhists rules, and disciplines. After one year, he returned to secular lifestyle on a selected auspicious date. he was cordially received by the police forces upon his return. 

  About a month after his return to secular lifestyle, the political division transferred Khun Pan to Narathiwat to become an inspector, During that time,  in the district was mostly Muslim and Khun Pan managed to pick up some Malay language while he was stationing there. Not long after, a great incident took place.
  
  A well known bandit with political backing who had personally acquired some magical skills with his physical body not vulnerable to bullets and weapon was up to all evil. Looting and killing were commonly witness by the local and people living in that area were living in fear. When Khun Pan learned about this, he was prepared to bring down this bandit. After a few months of tracking, Khun Pan has finally come to face this bandit. After a vigorous fight with each applying their skills and strength, the bandit was finally subdued and sent to prison.

  Not long after, the bandit committed suicide in the jail. After receiving this news,  people of the district honor Khun Pan as the "Raja Kecil" which literally, means the"Little King". Thereafter, Khun Pan worked in several districts such as Pattalung, Songkhla, Suratthani, Pijit, Ayutthaya, Narathiwat and Sukhothai.

  During his term of duty, he holds the records of successfully in arresting more than a hundred of ferocious great bandits. Till now, no one else has ever achieved such a great achievement.

  Khun Pan retired from the police force in the year of 2507. By the year of 2516, he became a senator under the democratic party. Khun Pan had lived until the age of 108 and passed away on 5th July 2549 at 23:27. After the 100 days of  prayers chanting and ritual ceremonies, Khun Pan was cremated on the 22nd February 2550. Even though Khun Pan has passed away, his contribution and legacy are still well remembered by the people of Thailand.
